News announcement from Intel Developer Forum, Palm Springs, CA.
THine Electronics Introduces 170MHz DVI Chipsets and 170MHz LVDS Chipsets
Supporting up to UXGA Resolution for Flat-Panel Monitors and Notebook PCs
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, Palm Springs, Calif.; Feb. 15, 2000-THine Electronics, Inc. has announced the introduction of the THC63DV161/THC63DV164 DVI 1.0 compliant chipsets for flat-panel monitors and the THC63LVD823/THC63LVD824 LVDS chipsets for notebook PCs. Both chipsets support the wide display resolutions from VGA(640 x 480) to UXGA(1600 x 1200) through the digital display interface.
For flat-panel monitors
The transmitter, THC63DV164, and the receiver, THC63DV161, are compliant with the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) spec 1.0, and cover the frequency range from 25MHz to 170MHz through the DVI single link. The low-cost, popular transmitter, THC63DV154, and the receiver, THC63DV151, covering the display resolutions from VGA to SXGA+(1400 x 1050), were also introduced. Based on THine's original technologies used in the THine's LVDS products, the chipset realizes low power and low jitter characteristics.
For notebook PCs
The LVDS transmitter, THC63LVD823, and the LVDS receiver, THC63LVD824, support single-pixel data transmission up to SXGA+ resolutions and dual-pixel data transmission up to UXGA resolutions between Host and Flat Panel Display. This can improve not only cost and space, but also eliminate the clock skew problem of current two-chip solution to support SXGA/UXGA. The THC63LVD823 and THC63LVD824 are compatible with the THC63LVDM83A and the THC63LVDF84A which are widely adopted in the notebook PCs.
"THine's introduction of DVI transmitter and receivers is an important contribution to the further success of DVI in the digital display marketplace," said Mark Waring, DVI strategic initiative manager, Intel Corporation. "THine has been a supplier of LVDS display interface components to the notebook industry since 1996. THine's has a solid foundation of high frequency design and manufacturing capabilities, and I'm excited about their entry into the DVI component market."
The volume production of the THC63DV164/ THC63DV161/ THC63DV154/ THC63DV151 DVI chipsets will start 2Q 2000. The THC63LVD823/ THC63LVD824 LVDS chipsets are sampling now with mass production scheduled for March 2000.
