Panstera Unveils DVI-Compliant, LVDS Chipsets

Panstera Introduces High-Performance DVI 1.0-Compliant Chipset for Flat-Panel Displays and LVDS Chipset for Notebook PCs

San Jose, CA (August 17, 2000) Panstera, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company based in Silicon Valley that provides advanced mixed-signal and complex digital logic solutions, has announced the availability of two new chipset families:

  • The PT60154/PT60151 & PT60164/PT60161 transmitters and receivers that are DVI (Digital Visual Interface) 1.0-compliant devices for flat panel display applications; and
  • The PT66383/PT66384 series LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) transmitter and receiver that are ICs for deployment in the fast-growing notebook PC market
Panstera's new DVI compliant device families support the spectrum of display resolutions from VGA (640 x 480) up to UXGA (1600 x 1200) format. This support is achieved through the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard developed by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG).

Charles Wang, president and CEO of Panstera, said, "Now systems designers involved with LCD monitors and notebook PCs have another reliable, high-performance source to meet their DVI-compliant and LVDS components needs. In fact, these devices play equally well with emerging digital display and Set-Top-Box applications."

By complying with the DVI standard, Panstera's chips for use with flat panel displays and projectors are capable of serving today's requirements for high-speed, high-resolution digital displays. The company's DVI 1.0 compliant transmitters (PT60154/PT60164) and receivers (PT60151/PT60161) support plug-and-display and feature scaleable bandwidth, power management, and a single 3.3V power supply. Panstera's DVI 1.0 compliant devices also provide an inter-pair skew tolerance up to 1 full input clock cycles. These flat panel display enablers are manufactured with standard digital 0.35mm CMOS technology, and packaged in 64-pin or 100-pin TQFPs.

TIA/EIA-644 LVDS-compatible, PansteraŐs 24-bit LVDS transmitter (PT66383) and 24-bit LVDS receiver (PT66384) feature a shift clock range from 20MHz to 112MHz and support VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA. These LVDS chips are also appropriate for plasma display panels as well as LCD displays. Panstera's transmitter and receiver deliver low EMI and both are housed in 56-pin TSSOP packages.
